Hosta College 2008 will be held at Piqua, Ohio, an hour and a half drive from Cincinnati. Many of our members attend this educational event and serve as instructors. An excellent event for hosta novices. Pre-registration is required.The Hosta College website can be found at Hosta College

This will be a joint meeting with the Miami Valley Hosta Society. At 7:00 pm, guest speaker Mark Zillis, author of that wonderful Hosta Handbook, will present Hostas of Distinction. Mark will be selling copies of the new edition. Refreshments will be provided.

Jacque Eccles will present New Annuals and Container Gardening. Jacque is the best when it comes to putting together a beautiful container. Her place has a wonderful old greenhouse brimming over with garden treasures. We will have a Panera lunch delivered to the garden. We will provide you with a map to local garden centers in the area. Sound like this could be an all day adventure. I love when that happens!

The annual GCHDS Cut Leaf Show will be held at the Northgate Mall. Participants start preparing their leafs at 7:30 am, Leaf judging starts about 10:30 with open viewing by the public at the end of judging. This is an American Hosta Society sanctioned show. This is a good opportunity to see many varieties of hosta.

touring Bert Hendley’s garden. Bert’s gardens
were featured in the book, The Well Tended
Perennial Garden. Joan Day and Peter Zales

East Side Garden Tour Day!
This is going to be a good one. We have seven beautiful gardens for you to tour. Directions and time will be mailed about two weeks prior to the tour date. All of the gardens are about 15 minutes from the Demtrious garden. Please feel free to tell other garden clubs and your friends about the tour.

6:30 pm to 8:30 pm An evening at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens with Steve Foltz. Our Zoo is a wonderful resource for plant information. Check out these websites www.planttrials.com . Join us along with the Miami Valley Hosta Society in welcoming Reggie Millette from Quebec, Canada. Reggie has written several books and he has a real passion for gardening. Reggie is also known for his photography. He will be presenting a wonderful program. Reggie’s garden has also been featured on HGTV program, A Gardener’s Diary. Cost is $20 per person.
